So last week, I was away at the first residential for Youth Music Voices. I had such an amazing time and made about 80 new friends :') We learnt four songs: 'Man In The Mirror' by Michael Jackson, 'Rhythm Medley', 'Sunset' and 'Sure On This Shining Night'. All of which we performed after only four days of rehearsing. We performed first in a little concert for family and friends at the university we were staying in and then again by the Olympic rings at St Pancras Station :D Which was an experience in itself... Here's a couple of videos of our performance at the station, enjoy!
So I got back at about midnight on the Friday and started my new job on Saturday :D :D I was wrecked and totally not up for signing health and safety forms for two and a half hours but hey! So far I'm enjoying it :) Doing Saturday and Monday nights 6-10 :) Which isn't as bad as it sounds. We have a right laugh! Last Monday, there was six of us sat in one aisle facing all the stock which doesn't take half as long as it does doing it by yourself :L So yeh, that's all going pretty well :) And also, apparently it's pay day next Friday, yaaaaaaaaaaay :D
Getting sliiiightly worried about the amount of college work I've still got to make a start on this summer :L This consists of:
- Reading looooads on the theme of (sibling) Rivalry for my English coursework next year so any ideas on books are welcome)
- Attempt a first draft of English coursework
- Research into History of American Musicals for my Performance exam in January (yes we've started already!)
- My huuuuuuge photography project on the theme of Society and Culture and again, ideas are welcome :)
- Start noting down ideas/writing a first draft of my Personal Statement
for University applications
- Do more research into University's
- Look into pieces for a 13 minute performance for Music
- Look into a piece for a 3 minute performance for Performance Studies
I'm planning on starting tomorrow... Whether that'll happen or not is another ball game entirely ;) Plus it's results day (FREAK OUT) on the 18th August... Which is just under two weeks away :'( I know I did terribly in all my exams so I'm not expecting my results to be great. I'm going to have to resit everything. Hello added pressure! The thing that's going to get me is the disappointment of my family and friends and the sense of complete FAILURE. I wish I could be better. I think these lyrics are fairly appropriate to this feeling. They're from a song called 'I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth' by the one and only Fall Out Boy :)
"And the record won't stop skipping
And the lies just won't stop slipping
And besides my reputation's on the line
We can fake it for the airwaves
Force our smiles, baby, half dead
From comparing myself to everyone else around me"
And the lies just won't stop slipping
And besides my reputation's on the line
We can fake it for the airwaves
Force our smiles, baby, half dead
From comparing myself to everyone else around me"
Been pretty busy this week what with work, family outings (sigh) and theory tests. I'm missing a fair few of my friends due to not being in college :/ I mean don't get me wrong, I love the holidays! I just miss people like Dannii and Caitlin because they're the people I can pour my heart out to and know they would listen and care. I miss Adam as well because he's been away on holiday to Egypt for two weeks. I don't normally go a couple of days without speaking to him :L He rung the other day to see if I wanted to go swimming with him in Ludlow but I was meeting Fergus for the first time in nearly a month :L So I really need to get arranging meet ups :P Also need to arrange band practise and a rehearsal for my Stage 2 drama group. Yikes. Though I did meet up with Anto on Tuesday and gave him his birthday present :) It was a really nice day catching up and having a laugh.
I mentioned meeting the boyfriend for the first time in ageeeees on Thursday :) We'd both been away and then were busy but it was so good to see him again. I'd missed him a lot. Though I did steal his jacket a while back so I've lived in that for the last few weeks ;) He also had a surprise for me! He'd bought me a silver bracelet with little charms on it :') I love it so much and so far have worn it everyday. But anyway he came over to mine, stayed the night then I ended up going back to his Friday and sitting in on his band practise :) Though I apparently fell asleep halfway through it. Personally, I don't think so but it could have due to staying up late on the internet because Fergus fell asleep early. It was nice to hang out with his friends, they're really funny and a good laugh :) They're also all very talented so I love listening to them play. Though, thinking about it, with the volume of their amps, I don't know how I managed to fall asleep :L Check out their website: http://www.the-parallax.com/ or their facebook: http://www.facebook.com/TheParallax
Haven't done too well with eating this week. Last week, on the residential, I got away with eating barely anything. I basically just ate fruit, granola bars and salad and drank a lot of water (mainly due to having to keep my voice in good condition and it being so hot in rehearsal rooms). The only problem was, the day before we performed and were meant to come home, I nearly fainted in a rehearsals. It was kind of scary. I went really light headed, couldn't breathe and nearly fell off my chair. Which would have been even more embarrassing. Luckily, my friends and section leader saw me and took me out the room, which was such a relief. I think this was mainly due to the heat but also that I hadn't had lunch or breakfast :/ So after that I ate a bit more.
This week has been terrible though. Had chips for lunch on Tuesday and McDonalds for lunch on Friday :/ Ooops. I hated myself so much after eating that crap. But the rest of the time I've been out, I haven't had anything and I'm still having an apple for breakfast to make it look like I'm having something. So the only proper meal I have is tea. Ah wells, back at it this week :) I plan to do some exercise then weigh myself so hopefully the results won't be too disastrous!
Today, I had the overwhelming urge to get my camera out. I haven't used it in sooo long and I miss it. I'm such a fail of a photography student. But anyway, I took some photos of the raindrops on the window... Interesting huh?! They're not even that good! I just really felt like I wanted to hold my camera again. Here are a couple of the results, I just wish I could edit them :L
But anyway, seeing as it's now 1:00 am and I'm wrecked, anything else can wait for another day. Hope your all fine and dandy, feel free to follow and comment. And thank you to new followers! It always makes my day to see someone new :) Night guys Xo
